Cumberland High School, proudly serving the St. Catherine community since 2000, stands as a beacon of technical and vocational excellence in Jamaica. Located at 1 Cumberland Drive in the Gregory Park area, our institution has evolved from its founding with 1,184 students to become a focused, dynamic learning environment serving nearly 600 students with a committed staff maintaining an optimal 20:1 student-teacher ratio.
As a specialized TVET-focused secondary school, Cumberland High offers comprehensive technical and vocational education programs alongside traditional academic subjects. Our diverse curriculum spans from Commercial Food Preparation and Cosmetology to Electrical Installation and Welding, ensuring our students graduate with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills that meet industry demands. We operate on a single-shift system from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with extensive co-curricular activities extending until 5:00 p.m.
Our commitment to holistic education is reflected in our robust student governance system, led by dedicated Head Boys and Head Girls, supported by prefects, student councillors, and peer counselors. Through targeted literacy and numeracy initiatives, including specialized coaching and cross-disciplinary integration, we ensure every student receives the foundational skills necessary for success.
Under the leadership of Principal Carlon Pitt and guided by our Board of Directors chaired by Anika Clarke, Cumberland High School continues to transform lives and build futures, staying true to our motto of 'Never Say Never, Always Endeavour' while preparing students to become productive members of our evolving global society.
